Pres. Obama Poll Numbers

By Misty - Posted on 20 June 2011

MINNEAPOLIS — Despite their grousing about the administration during the Netroots Nation Conference, liberal activists and bloggers are relatively happy with President Barack Obama's performance.

A straw poll conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research showed that 80 percent either approve or strongly approve of the president more than a year before voters head to the polls to decide whether he deserves a second term.

The poll of 519 people was conducted via iPad in the Minneapolis Convention Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Pretty impressive. Curious-what was last year's result?

Last year was almost the same, a little bit higher at 84%.  http://www.democracycorps.com/strategy/2010/07/netroots-nation-straw-poll-results/

I attended quite a bit of the Netroots Conference as they offered a nice discount for Minnesotans.  I was rather surprised that some of the progressive sites mentioned a bunch of Obama-bashing sessions because I didn't witness that myself.  Some disappointment sure, but the outrage is directed towards Tea Partiers and Koch Bros., etc.

I doubt there will be any third party challenge from the left, meaning that other 20% will come around on election day. I don't see more than 4-5% of Democrats backing a Republican, no matter who it ends up being.

This entire election comes down to how well the president attracts independents.

In a California Field Poll that came out today, shows nearly 58 percent of independent voters view Obama positively.
