Vermont About to Pass Single Payer Healthcare

I don't think that link will work for people who don't have a Facebook account.  Here's the actual link,  http://www.boston.com/news/local/vermont/articles/2011/03/24/vt_house_resumes_debate_on_health_care_bill/
I'd also like to say, good for you Vermont!  I hope my own state could do the same if we get Democrats back in the majority.

My mistake Minn.. thank you for posting the correct link:)

I wish my state of Pa would do it too!  No such luck witho Corbett.. we will be lucky if we can drink the water in this state shortly!

I know. I am in PA too. I warned people that Corbett would give PA to the frackers, but they voted him in anyway. Now he is putting corp cronies in charge of the permit process and removing oversight, and today it was reported that the regulators must get approval from the DEP before they can issue citiations.  *head desk*

Fracking is horrible. We already have dead livestock, dead fish, dead wildlife, contamiated aquifers and tap water that catches fire. The small towns north of me are failing water quality tests because the frack fluid is showing up in their little municipal water treatment plants & they aren't equipped to deal with it. When will this madness stop?

isilwath.. I was really upset when he won the election.  I have spoken to my brother several times about this issue, he does well work.  He has told me that whatever happens with this fracking, it will not effect the water supply of city water.  It only effects those who have wells.  It of course effects everyone with the damage it does to the ground, air and ecosystems.  So my nasty city water that has so much chlorine in it that I can smell it , that I won't drink btw (I buy bottled) is going to be preferable to the poisoned well water!  I don't what it is going to take to stop this?  I don't think it will become a main stream issue until more people are effected and by then it will be too late.  Did you sign the petition that I posted for the FRAC act?

Not sure of the story but I saw this on Twitter:

"Chemical sludge from fracking is being spread on farmland in west Texas. Kills the soil. #GOP is killing us"'

Yes, I saw the FRAC petition. I signed it.

You can bet that if FRAC crap gets into the Delaware River, it won't just be the small town munis (who are already finding frac fluid in their sewage treatment plants) and wells that are are contaminated, it'll affect the big cities too.

It is estimated to effected 9 million people's drinking water from, NY, NJ, PA and DEL.

Congratulations Vermont.

California next I hope... It has passed twice already, but got vetoed by Arnold. Next up Jerry Brown.

With Jerry Brown in the Gov's seat, I would expect you to be #2.  Lucky you!

SB 810

Set for hearing April  27.

This bill would bring universal health care to California by enacting a “Medicare for All” style single payer health care system in the state. The plan would cover all California residents with comprehensive health benefits, save families and businesses millions of dollars off their health care premiums, and address California’s budget deficit as the state struggles to keep up with rising health care costs

I  subscribed to e-mail alerts at website. This is how I keep up with bills that catch my interest.

The California internet sales tax is another one I'm watching closely.

Maybe, maybe not.  Right now he seems more focused on the immediate budget problems.
I sure hope Califiornia is next on this. If a few states prove it is a money saver, it will finally catch on as the BEST way to go. Keeping my fingers crossed! I don't see any Republican governor taking advantage of Obama's offer that they don't have to follow Obamacare-they can propose an alternative for their state as long as it insures the same amount of people and saves as much money. Hmm-I wonder why? Maybe they just like the status quo-insurance companies making record profits, millions with no insurance, and costs skyrocketing? Glad Obama called their bluff and looking forward to responses in the future debates-if any GOP candidate actually decides to run.
