Just Found this site..

I just found this site.. I'm a Democrate but typed in the search Conservatives for Obama just for the heck of it. My heart just about stopped when I found this and started reading... have been reading for about an hour....  I thought only the extreme radicals had a voice...they are certainly the loudest.   Thank you to all of you for your down to earth, intelligent, extremely well thought out discussion of all the issues. After listening and reading all the hate, fearmongering rhetoric in the past 2 years...after finding you all....My faith in humaity has been restored.

Welcome to RFO PEM.  I wish you had found us during the election when things were really rocking around here.  Now we've settled into a comfortable discussion group, and hope you'll join us. 

PS---Blakey is pretty far right, but harmless. ;-)..he's very sweet actually, with a good sense of humor.  He doesn't take his politics nearly as seriously as the rest of us, but we've all become good friends.

I hope we hear more of your thoughts about the current political scene.

Welcome, PEM. I hope you'll join in our intellectual, sometimes heated, duscussions. I think I can brag that 99% of the discussion is civil, fair-minded, and respectful. If that appeals to you, stick around. I'm glad RFO offers you some hope amid what you see from the far-right of the Republican party these days. The Republican Party pretty much left me and continues to abandon "RINO's" (as they like to call us) like me. I still have that R next to my name here in NY (not really sure why-part might be my loyalty to RFO or power to keep out the more extreme person in a primary-but I'm sure it will change soon since the GOP refuses to change it's ways and as they embrace more Tea Party platforms.) President Obama was the first Democrat I followed closely, believed in, campaigned for, and proudly voted for. These days, in the voting booth, I act more as an Independent who leans Democratic. I still consider voting for Moderate Republicans but they are so hard to find, even in NY. I guess I'll vote in the GOP primary in NY, just to cast a vote against Paladino (who actually has a chance agaist Lazio!) I will support Cuomo in the general of course.

Welcome to this forum pem524... glad you found us. If we take a step back, this has been an amazing 2 years. The stimulus bill, Health Care and Wall Street reform, saving the US auto industry, ending 1 of 2 wars are huge moves forward. Massive change was promised and delivered which will change society for the better... and will do so over time.
