The End Of Combat Troops in Iraq

As I said on FB, Hallelujah and Finally!  Many thanks to all our troops for giving up so much over and over again.

When, I saw that last truck drive through the checkpoint, into Kuwait, and the gates start closing I got very emotional.

I know that there are, still, 50,000+ support troops in country and I want them all to come home safe, but this is unnecessary war is finally coming to an end and that is a very good thing.

Having been poor is no shame, but being ashamed of it, is.

Iraq war.

One more Bush mess Obama cleaned up. Doubtless his polls will go down again.  Bush kept all his major promises and the Republicans got clobbered in 2008 anyway. (Stay in Iraq for as long as it takes, let business do whatever it wants, denounce same-sex marriages).

Combat troops out of Iraq: check

First ever major health care reform: check

Pulled back American auto companies and stock market from brink of disaster (may be short term and temporary, but their peril under Bush/Paulson was long term and likely permanent): check.

At the rate he is going, he has no chance for re-election.

What a glorious moment! I know there are many still in hram's way even in this support role but it's the beginning of the true end. I keep thinking of McCain's prediction of staying in Iraq for decades to come and feel so comforted that this promise was kept from President Obama. I'm sure many troops will be heading to Afghanistan but I hope they all are allowed a joyful homecoming soon. I thought this was a good time to share this video of surprise troop homecomings. Get the tissues out-it's very touching. God Bless our troops and their families!
