"Peace Cannot be kept by force.  It can only be achieved by understanding."

Albert Einstein

When I saw that Chris Matthews was doing this, my first thought was: why are you giving these extremists the spotlight? This is a fringe group, clearly in the minority. However, I suppose we can't hide from their power and influence and how this movement is changing the Republican Party in a very negative way. And it looks like Matthews isn't sugar-coating or manipulating the reality, which is pretty scary. Some may say he is just trying to interview the craziest of the crazy to make a point, but look at all the people freely expressing worries of tyranny and wondering whether Obama is a U.S. citizen! They are not even embarrassed to express these views. Don't they worry that their boss or friends will see this? And the theme of 2nd amendment rights, and "fighting back-armed if necessary" is threaded throughout the comments of Tea Party members. Even the leader of Club for Growth-Dick Armey-wonders aloud whether the Obama Administration, Democratic members of Congress are anti-American!!! I hope this documentary does not glorify this hate-filled, misguided, corporate-sponsored movement, but rather exposes it as it truly is: racist, based in fantasy, divisive, and potentially violent. How do these people feel about the government and BP? Oh, Obama is not doing enough-ofcourse!

The "rise" of the new right might just be the doom of the Republican Party. After the Tea Party made sure Angle was the extremist queen who could take down Reid, now they are going after Murkowski in Alaska and endorsing her opponent. This seems to have Palin's blessing, too.

Washington (CNN) - The Tea Party Express has ignited somewhat of a political mystery, touting in a statement that it will make a "major endorsement in the 2010 elections" on Wednesday.

CNN has learned who will receive that endorsement: U.S. Senate candidate for Alaska, Joe Miller.

Miller, a lawyer in Fairbanks, Alaska, is mounting a long shot bid to oust Sen. Lisa Murkowski, a popular Republican and part of the GOP leadership in the Senate.

Though Miller has far less name identity in the state, a source tells CNN that the Tea Party Express will pour in resources – including people and money – to help Miller overcome the odds.

The group known for espousing conservative ideals in cross-country bus tours will try to "level the playing field" across Alaska on Miller's behalf, the source said.

The endorsement will also likely deepen a political plotline that has seen some national interest: Conservative favorite, yet controversial figure, Sarah Palin endorsed Miller on June 2 over Murkowski.

In a post on her Facebook page, Palin called Miller a "Commonsense Constitutional Conservative" with integrity and a man who "will never be bought off."

But Palin also blasted fellow Republican Murkowski.

"Unfortunately, Lisa Murkowski and much of the political establishment have recently evolved into being a bigger part of the big government problem in Washington, and they've strayed from the principles upon which they had espoused," Palin wrote. "They ushered in the largest increase in federal domestic spending since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society."

At least some Moderate Republicans seem to be trying to distance themselves from Angle for obvious reasons, although most in the GOP are afraid to go against the Tea Party.

And another example of establishment Republicans being hijacked by the Tea Party! Democrats are loving this!

This wasn't very accurate, I'm not going to lie. It was more of a, "Let's paint the Tea Party as Far Right Extremist who are preparing for the Obama-caused Apacolypse and who will secede from the USSA when Obama declares it so."

Were you actually expecting a story about Republicans from Chris Matthews to be accurate.

Matthews lost all credibility several years ago.

From The Hill. Senator Graham just stepped into the lion's den, predicting the Tea Party will soon fade out. He also pointed out how McCain had to move so far to the right in the primary to appease the Tea Party. Good for him for speaking the truth but now he's really in trouble. Let's see if he sticks to his gund or if an apology is coming.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who has earned the ire of Tea Party groups for his penchant for negotiating with Democrats, predicted this week the movement will "die out."

Graham, who has partnered with Democrats on immigration reform and energy and climate legislation, made the observation in a New York Times Magazine profile titled "Lindsey Graham, This Year's Maverick" to be published this Sunday:

“Everything I’m doing now in terms of talking about climate, talking about immigration, talking about Gitmo is completely opposite of where the Tea Party movement’s at,” Graham said as Cato drove him to the city of Greenwood, where he was to give a commencement address at Lander University later that morning. On four occasions, Graham met with Tea Party groups. The first, in his Senate office, was “very, very contentious,” he recalled. During a later meeting, in Charleston, Graham said he challenged them: “ ‘What do you want to do? You take back your country — and do what with it?’ . . . Everybody went from being kind of hostile to just dead silent.”

In a previous conversation, Graham told me: “The problem with the Tea Party, I think it’s just unsustainable because they can never come up with a coherent vision for governing the country. It will die out.” Now he said, in a tone of casual lament: “We don’t have a lot of Reagan-type leaders in our party. Remember Ronald Reagan Democrats? I want a Republican that can attract Democrats.” Chortling, he added, “Ronald Reagan would have a hard time getting elected as a Republican today.”

Graham's comments are likely to further the divide between him and the conservative grassroots groups, which some see as a key voting bloc for Republicans during this year's midterm elections.

The Tea Partiers have already been calling Graham a RINO for awhile so I imagine if things continue as they are he might finding himself having to do a "Charlie Crist" in order to be re-elected.  I was just thinking this morning that he's one Republican who sometimes "deviates into sense."  Its really sad that he gets demonized as a traitor because he talks with the President and Democratic senators.

I just wish he had chosen principles over politics and kept up his bipartisan efforts on climate change legislation and immigration reform. He let the far-right "get to him" and the nation's progress is held hostage as a result. You'd think the Tea Party would give him some credit for that obstruction, but he'll never satisfy them. Yes, he can look for a far-right opponent in 2012. Hopefully, he'll switch to Independent or Democrat before then for his own political survival and to actually allow himself to do something constructive for the nation rather than just saying no. I'm angry at him over his "reform can wait forever" attitude of late but I do respect him as one of the few Moderates left.
