Limbaugh claims he will leave the U.S. if HCR passes
Story from HuffPo. If this isn't a great reason for those of us on the left to work to help get the health care reform bill passed, I don't know what is. Truth be told though, I think he is bluffing. If the health care bill is passed by Congress, he will make some excuse about how he must be a good American and fight the good fight to get it overturned. Still though, the idea of Rush Limbaugh leaving the country is SOOOOOOO precious!

Next time Confederate Rick talks about Texas secession, someone should inform him that "the Union" will be pulling its federal air traffic controllers out of Houston and Dallas/FtWorth almost immediately, and a "Boycott Foreign Texas Beef" campaign will begin nationwide instantaneously. We can probably wait a while on that barrier wall along the Texas/Oklahoma border.
Gov. Lego-Hair doesn't even believe in the secession bullsh*t he spews... he's pandering to what he thinks are the "good Texans" -- as opposed to we evil Texans in the urban areas. He and Palin should be joined at the hip.
In fact, I fully expect a push for a GOP 2012 ticket of Perry/Palin. All the more reason for my vote for Bill White. Reminds me... I still need to get a Bill White yard sign. My neighborhood is FULL of them!!! Can I get a "Yee HAAAAWWW?" (Of course my 'hood is full of Socialists.)

Love it! We have our sign up. Even one of our "far right wing conservative" neighbors says he is voting for Bill White. Yessssssss!
But....but...but.... Costa Rica has a government run health care system... wouldn't that make HIM a "border jumper"?
Costa Rica, as it happens, offers universal heath care to all of its residents. The Costa Rican healthcare system is rated very highly on an international level, and the country’s citizens enjoy the health and life expectancy equal to that of more developed nations. These accolades come courtesy of strong, universal health insurance and excellent public and private hospitals.
“People travel to Costa Rica (and) receive the same quality of medical services for a fraction of the cost,” said Jorge Cortés, president of the Council for International Promotion of Costa Rica Medicine and medical director of Hospital Biblica, one of three internationally-accredited private hospitals in Costa Rica. “When people see they can get the same surgery for three or four times less, they decide to get medical care abroad.”
Lower labor costs and fewer malpractice suits keep the prices down here. In Costa Rica’s private system, a teeth-cleaning might run $40 and a general check-up costs $50.
Medical bargains
More extensive surgeries? A facelift averages $2,800 to $3,200 in Costa Rica, compared to $7,000 to $9,000 in the United States. A knee replacement may cost $11,000 in Costa Rica, but can be as much as $45,000 in the United States.
But there’s another arm of the country’s medical system – the public system – which is relied upon by a majority of the population. While celebrated by Costa Ricans for “universal access,” it’s often criticized for long wait times and delays in treatment.

Universal health care for over 60 years, in Costa Rica, and the United States of America is trying to give insurance to 30 million people who have no coverage at all.
if you are fine with universal crap and the 'rich' being able to afford good care - sure.

No one has said it yet, so I will...
Rush, don't let the screen door hit ya in the keester on your way out.
Mentioned with Colbert on Healthcare wording.
Extra Colbert:
Tip of the Hat/Wag of The Finger: Lieberman, the Pope is against invasive airport scanners, and sharks.
Consumer Alert: Pringles
That is the best reason yet to pass health care reform.
If it happens, the weight of the average American citizen will go down by at least 20 pounds.
Be sure to take the Colbert Healthcare Poll before they film tomorrow's show when his guest will be Steve Rasmussen.
And Kim, Seinfeld was on the Daily Show. But i'm 99% sure you know and you saw it.
Oh, I'd be happy to drive El Rushbo to the airport and see him off. He's an idiot, pure and simple.
From NY Daily News. Rush Limbaugh made a racist joke about David Paterson and Eric Massa. Such class!
CALLER: Yeah. Hey, listen. Interesting sidebar to that Eric Massa mess for Democrats. You know, our besieged governor, David Paterson, will be charged with naming a replacement for Massa. And I'm wondering if there's any chance, do you think that Paterson...
RUSH LIMBAUGH: Wait a minute.
CALLER: ...will exact some revenge on Obama, Emanuel, Cuomo, the whole Democratic gulag, by appointing a Republican or, at the very least, a DINO - a Democrat in name only?
LIMBAUGH: Are you sure that Paterson appoints or is there a special election?
CALLER: I am reasonably sure that Paterson will be appointing the replacement, assuming that he, you know, doesn't resign in the next 60 or 90 days.
LIMBAUGH: Let's assume you're right. So, David Paterson will become the massa...
CALLER: Yes.
LIMBAUGH: ...who gets to appoint whoever gets to take Massa's place. So, for the first time in his life, Paterson's gonna be a massa. Interesting, interesting.

Somehow I missed that before. That is just disgusting and so typical for Rush.
If people were not willing to take a stand to "end America as we know it", there would still be slavery. There would still be child labor and indentured servents. There would still be those forced to sit at the back of the bus. There would still be no votes for women. I could go on and on. The beauty of our nation is being willing to change to do the right thing. The beauty of Americans is those who are willing to fight for that change, instead of saying get out if you don't agree with me.
Let me tell you a little secret. Unless you are very well off, your taxes won't be affected at all. If you are in a financial position to have a tax increase, you could afford your own health care now. If you aren't well off, I guess you are forgetting that tax cut for the middle class Obama got for us last year........
Honeychild, you seem to miss the point that all of us pay for the health care of those who don't pay as it is. Wouldn't it be great if all of those people paid into insurance themselves so that they will be covered by an insurance policy?
I swear that I think that the problem behind this all is that people just don't understand the concept. It isn't free healthcare. It is enrolling people in healthcare INSURANCE.
It isn't free healthcare. It is enrolling people in healthcare INSURANCE.
It is soooo frustrating that people don't seem to be able to grasp that concept. They think health care reform is FREE health care for welfare recipients. It's like their minds are made up so don't confuse them with facts.
Outstanding point, CTM.
If it was going to be "free" healthcare, then that would necessitate that all doctors would have to turn into government employees. Don't think that's gonna happen.
how then do you view subsidies that will be provided for those that cannot afford to enroll in the insurance program?

Well, from what I understand about them they still don't make physicians government employees. Perhaps docs will receive more income from the gov't but how is that different from Medicaid? Docs don't seem too upset to bill Medicaid for services performed.
Or maybe they entered the medical profession because of the notion of getting people medical care they need, rather than because they desperately wanted an Oriental rug collection?
Sheeesh, will some people never learn?
that didn't answer my question?? and not really following your point b/c last I checked subsidies have to be paid for- which would make health insurance free (for some) but not health care. perhaps I was unclear.
btw - isn't fee for service part of the healthcare cost problem?
CTM - how doctors want to perform care is very different than the economic factors that raise healthcare costs. Understanding what drives costs is key to reducing them. I am willing to bet that they don't want more regulation and paperwork if the key concern is delivering medical care.
