New Anti-Obama email about off-shore drilling in Brazil

By TinSoldier - Posted on 31 January 2010

Got an email today and of course I researched it and found it to be (partially) bogus. More using half-truths to slander the President.

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/09/bogus-brazilian-oil-claims/

Some points:

  • No tax money is involved.
  • Obama did not order it.
  • The US stands to gain because the loan will go to purchase US-made drilling equipment.
So if you get this email make sure to set folks straight. It might not work 'cause people will nitpick at anything, but still.

Fact check:

Today even though President Obama is against off shore drilling for oil for this country. False

State of the Union: President Obama's Speech

...to create more of these clean energy jobs, we need more production, more efficiency, more incentives. That means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country. It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development. It means continued investment in advanced biofuels and clean coal technologies. And yes, it means passing a comprehensive energy and climate bill with incentives that will finally make clean energy the profitable kind of energy in America.

Thanks, Misty. Absolutely.
