Michael Steele "Brother is still here"

By Misty - Posted on 05 January 2010

Remember the transformation of the GOP's web site... well, it just happened to be on webpagesthatsuck.com about halfway down the page.

Oh, yes. Michael Steele-the gift that keeps on giving. (From MSNBC.)

...But by now, as Steele's gaffes continue to pile up, there's really no comparison. Just consider what Steele has said on "Hannity" last night as he promotes his new book, "Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda":

-- Steele not only admitted that Republicans probably wouldn't take back the House in November (a view shared by most political handicappers), but more importantly suggested that Republicans might not be ready to govern. "I don't know [if the GOP is ready]," he said. "And that's what I'm assessing and evaluating right now. Those candidates that are looking to run have to be -- have to be anchored in these principles. They have to be -- they have to understand ... these steps, because if they don't, then they'll get to Washington, and they'll start drinking that Potomac River water. And they'll get drunk with power."

-- Per liberal-leaning Media Matters, he also made a comment that some might find inappropriate or offensive: "Our platform is one of the best political documents that's been written in the last 25 years. Honest Injun on that," he told Hannity.

These new gaffes or verbal missteps come after the Washington Times uncovered that Steele has been giving paid speeches in addition to his day job, and after Hotline reported that Steele's RNC gave the Northern Mariana Islands $20,000 -- even though it doesn't have any voting members of Congress or any electoral votes.

He really said 'Honest Injun'. Steele shoots himself in the foot yet again.

He can't NOT make a fool of himself. I'm sure glad he belongs to the other guys. The biggest screw-up, so-far, was making Michael Steele chairman.

Is there anyone left that Michael Steele hasn't offended?

Matthews goes after Michael Steele

Calls GOP out on their hypocrisy.

Enjoyed that! Matthews probably made the New Year's resolution to get his obligated attacks on Republicans done early this year ... it's a mid-term election, ya know!

Speaking of Websites that suck: Colbert interviewed Erick Erickson of Redstate last night. You know, the one that allows dissenting voices but kicked John off and called him a democrat. Surprisingly, Erick rejects the Republican litmus test idea.

Erik was MUCH milder on TDS than he is in his nasty blogs.
That's a big thing with a huge majority of the Internet, they say a lot of things you wouldn't say in person when they are safely behind their computers. Especially those who are anonymous.

I agree with both of you whole-heartedly.  He came off much milder than I had expected, but people do feel a much different level of what's socially accpetable online than they do in person.

The blogs can make people like him out to be rough and tough, but when they face real questions in the real world with a real camera capturing it, they can't hide behind their cyber-tough computer language. Then we often see them for the wimps (or maybe even teddy bears) they are.  I'm not that familiar with this guy or site (except that they kicked off ultra liberal RFO founder John. LOL) but he has obviously written and inspired some hate-filled talk and rhetoric that does not add to any hope for positive political dialogue.
