Michael Jackson's ghost?
I wondered how long the haunting rumors would take to get started, though I think even this is done with humor and the knowledge that there were about a hunderd crews in there filming and trying to stay out of one anothers' shot. Fun, tho'.

Jermaine Jackson, the velvet-voiced brother of Michael Jackson, may perform at the end of tomorrow’s Staples Center tribute to the fallen King of Pop. Sources say that Jermaine will represent the Jackson family, singing Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.” -- web link
Today I saw an interview with an author that, coincidentally, has a book about MJ coming out next week, called Unmasked. It was very interesting.
He said he was outraged when Michael was aquitted of child molestation charges, and set out to prove that MJ was indeed guilty, and had "gotten away with it". In the course of many months of investigation and talking to scores of people, he came away absolutely convinced instead, that Michael was totally innocent. Not only innocent of molestation, but just an innocent child like person, who lived to recapture the childhood that he missed.
Photos sent to me from Los Angeles.

The Jackson Five’s first TV appearance with Diana Ross when the family still lived in Gary, Indiana.
The first concert I ever attended was Diana Ross. I was probably 12 years old. My neighbor had a connection and was able to score us free tickets. I'll never forget it-what an experience. I thought she was so stunning.
Wow-what a great story about how the book Unmasked came about. My gut tells me we would all come to the same conclusion if we were able to "know" the real Michael Jackson. He seemed to be a gentle soul and almost like a child trapped in an adult body.
We should all let more of our "inner child" out once in awhile. No, I'm not advocating that we all have a big slumber party for the neighborhood children, but maybe let ourselves do some crazy dancing once in awhile, go on those wild rides at the amusement park, and spend more time with our own children and grand-children so we can share those belly-laughs. I think that's what Michael Jackson was all about. And let's not forget his generosity to various charities, his help with sick or dying children, and his passion to help poor countries around the globe. On top of all that, he was an incredible dancer, musician/artist, and entertainer. He was such a perfectionist and very focused in his music. Other than David King who seems to think calling an icon who had just died a pervert and other names, I think we can all appreciate the goodness and the music that is Michael Jackson.
Well said, Izzy. One of the greatest joys in my world is when I allow myself to see the world through a child's eyes.
I thought the story behind Unmasked was one that needed to be shared. Maybe if that story is told and retold, it will lay to rest the rumors and innuendo, and let the brilliance that was MJ shine untarnished.
Did anyone else catch the meaning behind the words of the Congresswoman from Texas? I think she was directing her words straight at David King when she said it was in our Constitution that a person is innocent until proven guilty. To me, she was flat out telling him that he had breached the Constitution!! I said out loud..."You go girl!!"

No mystery-it was clearly directed at King. And Misty-I am soooo jealous. We want details, GF!
My daughter and I cried all through the memorial today. We both thought it was really nice to hear Brooke Shields on stage talking about her friend. Michael would call my daughter all the time during the early 80's, before and after Thriller came out. He called me once during that time to ask if it was Okay to call her. When we saw Brooke on TV we both looked at each other and smiled, remembering one time when he called saying that his friend Brooke was there at the house. We have a lot of memories when it comes to Michael Jackson. Michael was a very sweet person for those who knew him.
P.S. Thank you John and Suzi for letting me post my Michael stuff.
Whoaaa, wait a minute Misty! You've been holding out on me, GF! Unless I missed it somewhere, you didn't tell us that your daughter knew Michael. Please tell us the story of how that came about.
And you're more than welcome Misty. So many here were/are big fans.
Okay, here it goes . . . It's a long story and a little silly for us grownups . . .
Michael at the time was around 21 and my daughter was 10.
She got a hold of Michael's phone number from his secretary's daughters boy friend on a dare. My daughter and her friends started calling Michael also he would call them after they got out of school and when he wasn't in rehearsal. He would tell them to do good in school and not give up they dreams. He told them becoming famous didn't come over nite, for it took over 20 years. He said that hearing criticism made him do even better the next time. One time he ask them who they liked better, Prince or him. They told him they liked them both and he laughed. He asked them if the Thriller video scared them and they said yes. He laughed.
One time she was on the phone with him and he said to hold because Quincy Jones was on the other line. Quincy got on the line and said Hi to her and ask if she was doing good. I'll tell you there were a few of us parents that had some pretty high phone bills, but didn't care. I'm sure some of you remember that Michael said that he talked to young children on the phone. He would sing to them and they would sing to him. He would test a song on them and ask them what they thought of it.
When his hair caught on fire at the Pepsi commercial the girls called the hospital to talk to him, but the nurse didn't let them get through. They told them they didn't understand that they were close friends of his, but the nurse wouldn't go for it. When Michael got home he called and said that his Jerry Curls caught on fire, but his scalp wasn't hurting.
My daughter talked to him for about two years. When his family moved to Encino they lost touch. I am pretty sure there are a lot of people out here that have stories to tell of Michael's phone calls. I ask my daughter why she never tell people about her experience with Michael. She said because people would never believe her.
What a great story Misty! Thanks so much for sharing it here...I for one believe it. It says a lot about MJ that he talked to you, the parent, to get permission to talk to a young child. That impresses me.
Misty, that's a very special story. That's the kind of thing that is way beyond the hype and overexposure that the MSM is feeding on... That's a beautiful, touching story about the human side of Michael Jackson. Thank you for sharing it.
The memorial was great. Great speeches, especially from people like Brooke Shields, and like Micheal or not, you sometimes forget with everything that went on that he did give generously to many charities for years.
You know, it never hit me that this thread is the perfect opportunity to show the Daily Show and Colbert making fun of the ridiculous coverage the media gave to Jackson's death and other ridiculous reports of deaths. It was definitely not the place in the original Jackson threads. I mean it's things that go way past stupid or necessary:
