WaPo: LGF founder goes "rogue"

By magus_melchior - Posted on 21 April 2009

I'm not sure if anyone read anything on Little Green Footballs, but apparently that blog was a bit of a watchdog on Islamic groups, starting after the 9/11 attacks. From the Washington Post comes a story where after years of low-key activism and left-wing attacks, founder Charles Johnson has turned his critical eye on right-wing targets like Fox News. Why has he shifted messages?

“I don’t think there is an anti-jihadist movement anymore,” Johnson said. “It’s all a bunch of kooks. I’ve watch some people who I thought were reputable, and who I trusted, hook up with racists and Nazis. I see a lot of them promoting stories and causes that I think are completely nuts.”

Not surprisingly, conservative blogs who allied themselves with LGF, or were started with Johnson's help, feel betrayed.

Little do they know that a little reason did everyone some good...

Hmmm... Very interesting. We should keep up with what he's doing...

I sent him this message because i'm fascinated by the story....

"Read your story in the Washington Independent. Interesting stuff and you seem to be in the same boat as a lot of people at RFO. I'm not one of the people who run it, but i've been a member since October and it's a gathering for a lot of people from different backgrounds and leanings who are seeking more centrist politics in place of a lot of the craziness from all directions(mostly the right these days). Just throwing that out there and saying thanks for keeping an eye on the  nutjobs from all sides at different times. The right has really gotten carried away this year which is leaving a lot of displaced and rejected moderate Republicans."

I hope that isn't out of line, Suzi or John...

You should be ok, especially with the disclaimer.
Actually, I think it's great.  So good that I hope you linked us. ;-)  The more that those who are seeking middle ground can join together and support each other, the better chance we have of turning things around.
I was hoping you'd think it was good. The title of the contact was: "Republicansforobama.org (RFO)"
^5 SG.  You did good!!  thanks
Yes, Charles would be a welcome addition! Just don't tell him about punks like Izzy who hang out here : )
Uh oh...there's a story in there somewhere. ;-)
