Dow down 1500, Deficit up 1 trillion...what a hero!!
It took Bush 8 years to hurt the economy (yes Bush sucks) and Obama + Pelosi are finishing what Bush started. WOrst month for the market since 1933. Good job Obama.
Socialism is coming...Obama so far is the worst president in the history of the united states. There is *nothing* republican about comrade Obama. Every time he opens his mouth the market tanks.
I find it so funny all the RFO members here bashing Bush because of Bush's outrageous deficit spending and then defend Obama who is outspending 4 years of Bush in a single month. Good grief, Obama sucks. WOrst. President. Ever.

Obama: biggest government spender in the history of planet earth...in all of human history...he is the biggest.
What a legacy!!! What a hero!! Go RFO!! hahah *rolls eyes*
Let me spell it out for you. Bush turned a multi-billion-dollar surplus into a at-least 5 trillion dollar DEFICIT. Some estimates put it at 11.5 trillion!
And you think Obama's piddling ~1 trillion is going to be much greater? Do us all a favor and take a math course. Better yet, unplug your keyboard.

It's sad that we've reached a point where 'government service' is a dirty word... If we're the greatest country on earth, maybe we can have the greatest government.

Well, since Socialism is coming, I guess that means we can start by eliminating all the stupid people (i.e. you).
Farewell!
I was initially concerned that Kiwi actor Karl Urban would play the part of Dr. McCoy, because the accents are very different. Turns out he's a huge Trek fan, and like many fans, imitated the characters on the screen. That, and he's a professional actor-- Southerner shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Speaking of the new Trek film, I'm very very disappointed that the trailer shows them building a starship. On the planet's surface!!!
Otherwise, looks good, if I can just get past that huge suspension of disbelief roadblock.

Technically, there is nothing in on-screen canon that says the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 was built in space. The only information we were given during TOS was that she was built in the San Francisco Shipyards at Earth. Whether, those shipyards were in orbit, or on the surface leads to many heated debates among Trekkies.
One of the novels went as far as to detail how the shipyards were on the surface, since it is easier to built a ship on the ground (in a shirtsleeve environment) and then tractor it into orbit for finishing out and space-frame trials.
For me, though, it's more the "science" in "science fiction". From a science viewpoint, it would make more sense to build the starship in orbit than on the ground.
Not just because the shape is not aerodynamic and would require phenomenal amounts of energy to lift into orbit but also that many of the materials to build the ship would be better fabricated in zero gravity than in a gravity well of 1G.
Star Trek may have its share of techno jumbo, but they also relied on solid science when they could do so.

stil don't know why we decided to record that.
Progress starts with "pro" which also the word proposals start with. Congress starts with "con" which makes one think of "no" or "against". Reactionary also implies that only a "reaction" can be uttered.
Unfortunately for most of us, it seems you have one party that proposes new taxes and wants to spend them, and another party that runs on tax cuts, esp for the top 5% and spending cuts until they get in office, and then the floodgates of greed open up wide as possible.
Right now any possible progress seems to be coming from President Obama and the Democrat side. Whatever it is that constitutes the national Rep party, which is not popular among normal people, is only capable of "reaction" and seems to be centered in "con"gress. How many years and how many idiots are going to beat the birth certificate dead horse? Perhaps it is some sort of bizarre hazing ritual we don't know about?
Someone like marshill reminds me to tell y'all about something that happened to Lesley today. Her little one has been quite sick, and she took him to the doctor for the 3rd time this week, He had to have some more blood work done, and while in the lab waiting room, she was seated across from a woman wearing a t-shirt that read something like this: "Bitter white American clinging to my Bible and guns." I cannot believe that someone would have the nerve to wear that out in public!! Is there a big sale on ignorance and stupidity these days?
It's all that some people have, unfortunately.
Heh -- even me from time to time.
When AG Holder says that we are "cowards" for not adressing race, this woman is not who he is speaking about.
In fact I think that people who are willing to condemn her without trying to start a discussion are the ones he was talking about.
Sorry, just rambling.

progress is the magnificent by product."
Heh -- of course not, Suzi. :D
I was using her as a generalization as were you.
"For those who plan with audacity and execute with vigor,
progress is the magnificent by product."
;-) You're right, of course. But in very ungeneral terms, and what Lesley and I talked about, was wearing that kind of statement in an atmosphere that is very racially mixed. If I were an AA nurse, and had to take her blood, I might be tempted to jab a little too hard. ;-) A normal McCain t-shirt, on the other hand, would have been fine. Lesley said she wanted to tell her "Yes we can, and yes we did", but kept her mouth shut. We could be over reacting, I guess....it's been a tough week.
Exactly.
How the hell are you pinning this on Obama? He just started and he's trying to keep it from getting any worse.
If the fricken' titans of the financial industry hadn't screwed the pooch and the free market system then we wouldn't be worried about socialism at all -- it would still be a dead ideology.
Now, I have argued many times that Obama is not a socialist -- which I still believe -- but more and more people who are easily swayed may start believing that more socialist programs are the answer. And that's not Obama's fault. It's the fault of the bastards who thought that the rules didn't apply to them.
Except that much of Bush's spending was in "emergency appropriations" for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and therefore not counted in his budget deficit numbers.
But at least Obama is proposing to pay for his deficit spending eventually, unlike Bush who just shoved it under the carpet.
Not that he's proposing enough, IMO, but still.

Marshill's mother? *dashes away at the speed of light*
"Marshill's mother?"
Give up. He was obviously cloned. A "Dolly" of the wingnuts.
