Saw this and remembered your 'love' for Mr. Shuler...
Pelosi, Reid have "failed," Shuler says
This maybe the motivation..."Shuler, rumored to be mulling a '10 Senate run, was one of 11 House Democrats to vote "no" on the stimulus and was already deep in Pelosi's doghouse. Now he'll have to build a Harry Reid wing."
Of course, you know what's going to be extrapolated by Fox News & Co from this data:
42% of Americans disapprove of the Democrats' Stimulus Bill. The Democrats don't care what almost half the country wants... the people have no voice... bla bla bla...
MaryMoo - Well I can't blame Shuler on that one. I doubt any RFO will disagree with his sentiments regarding those two incompetent administrative political hacks.
Hell, Obama is the sane major leader of that party up in D.C. amongst that clique as far as I'm concerned.
If Shuler voted his convictions and the will of his constituents, then I can't hold it against him for not toeing the party line. Isn't that what we want to Republicans to do? Although I disagree with him, fair is fair.
As for Pelosi and Reid, well.....It did seem to me that Reid attempted to work with the White House on this bill, as hard as it is for me to admit that. ;-) Pelosi is another story...she seemed to challenge her president and head of her party in a power play.....grrrr, don't get me started.
Pelosi is safe, electoral-wise. Her district in San Francisco is one of the most liberal in America, so she has nothing to lose.
Reid, on the other hand, has a lot to lose. He is from a state that is trending blue, but perhaps not solidly there yet. And he has to stand for re-election in 2010, perhaps against Bruce Woodbury, the longest-serving commissioner in Clark County history. Woodbury would still be a commissioner if the term limits ordinance had not passed.
I expect these two democratic leaders to continue to diverge, if not on basic issues, at least on the way they play their cards.
I know you're right about Pelosi, wc. It just seems to me that a new President could count on his same party Speaker of the House to deliver what he wants.
Who knows? If she had done so, maybe we could have gotten 2 House Republican votes, and 4 Senate ones. ;-)

Suzi - More like Pelosi acted STUPID, but hey what else is new?
I mean Jesus Christ, she's your stereotypical liberal, or ideologue for that matter. Alone in her own little fantasy world that bears little resemblance to reality.
Joe Scarborough talking about public polling on the economic stimulus package on Morning Joe.
That is funny . . . Of course you don't know what you talking about!
Support for stimulus down to 51% in latest poll:
An increasingly tough sell
