Do any of you use Freecycle?

By HopeForOurFuture - Posted on 21 December 2008

It's a place where you can give away unwanted items for free and ask for certain items you are looking for for free. So that they do not go into a landfill. Here's the link, you have to see if it is available in your area. I have used it many times. it's a pretty neat idea

I hadn't heard of it before.  Thanks for the heads-up... I just signed up for a group in my area.

No problem, the thought occurred to me when we were conversing on the global warming & environmental thing. A couple of summers ago I really wanted to put in a brick path out back as it is hard to grow grass(lotsa shade). I didn't want the cheap bricks you buy at home depot, and I wanted a rustic look. I posted that I was looking for some, and WOW.!!! I got a slew of replies, people had them laying in there yard in piles that they wanted out, please come take them away, they said. I can't imagine how much it would have cost me had we purchased them. I think it is such a good idea, especially now, given the circumstances with the economy.
I used Freecycle to pass on a perfectly good carseat.  You can't donate carseats to charities since they will only take brand new ones, and I knew that this one was still in great shape and had never been damaged.  I had a few takers and once I chose one, I just left the carseat outside my front door, and she came and got it.
