More Rev. Wright ads coming...

By Native Texan - - Posted on 31 October 2008

I just saw a Rev. Wright ad in Noth Texas - I guess it was from a 527 group.

And I was listening to O'Reilly - Fox news during lunch today  and he was speaking to Dick Morris.

Dick said the Rev. Wright ads could be the trick to impact the Older Voters and get them to reconsider their support of Sen. Obama.

He also said currently the Older Voters do not like McSame's policy on Social Security, therefore, they have been considering Sen. Obama.

However, Younger Voters don't like the wealth distribution comments and now leaning to McSame, can you believe this.

Of course Dick Morris believes McSame has a good chance of success in the Election...

Has anyone else seen the new Rev. Wright ads?

 and

They're running these ads in North Texas?  Why not run them in Canada or Mexico?  It would effect the electoral vote just as much.

Nope, I barely see any McCain ads in Nevada, and I am in a very Red part of the state.

Let them air it in states, like Texas, where Obama isn't going to win anyway.  That just proves a point that they are trying to stoke fear in to "Whitey".

Why are they still beating that dead horse?? And why are they showing ads in TX??

Not that I would want to see that here but La. and AZ are close and I havent seen a McCain ad here in a while, I saw a POSITIVE Obama ad telling people to make sure they vote and volunteer.

I think beating a dead moose may be more appropriate for this campaign.

LMAO!!!!!!  Good one Valas!

"I SO voted for Barack Obama!  10/25/08"

LOL!!! You're right!
LOL...Welcome to RFO Valas.   I love that you made your entrance with a great line!

There was a Rev.Wright ad on TV here in South Louisiana this morning.  It was paid for and approved by GOPTrust.com.

It disgusts me to see these commercials.  I wish a 527 group would make one about Sarah Palin and her witchdoctor...

"I SO voted for Barack Obama!  10/25/08"

What we need is an ad for Obama that is just factual, not attacking McCain exactly but explaining our progressive tax system and the fact that every president since before Reagan used the same system.

But a lot of older voters may have early voted.

The lines are going to be ridiculous Nov 4th, I think a lot of older folks got the memo and are voting early.

This may be a tactic to rile up far-right voters, rather than persuade undecideds to vote McCain's way. I hope McCain's campaign won't succeed in creating an insurgency militia, but that's my tinfoil-hat theory.

Sticker/sign tally in Orange County, CA:

  • Obama - 7
  • McCain - 3
  • (As of 2008/10/29)

Did the ad seem effective at all? To me it is old, old, old just like the Ayers stuff. That worked so well for them, huh?

I saw the ad, it's not that great for swaying ind's imho. It seems like it would work better on people who are afraid of 'The Great Black Menace' or some such other crap. It's just another ad by McCain's group trying to instill fear and that Obama hates America.

Because it worked so well before, right?

I almost feel bad for McCain, his campaign is so ludicrous and misguided. This isn't the 1950's for crying out loud. You can't scream commie and have people rage out. It just doesn't work.

I just saw it in California tonight.

Obama/Biden 2008

Wow, that's a senseless waste of cash.   California has about as much a chance of turning red as it does spontaneously disappearing from the planet.

McCain/Palin Deathwatch, October 3, '08:  McCain presently has a (partially complimentary) 28% chance of winning the election.

I have not seen these ads in Colorado.  That's not to say they haven't been running - I just haven't seen them.    And I hope I don't see them.  I think these sorts of ads only tend interest the far right base, rather than the undecided, thoughtful middle.  In fact, I think a lot of undecideds are turned away by these ads in a way they may actually push them toward Obama.  In that sense, I don't worry about ads like this so much.
Thursday I read over at HuffPo that PAC bought airtime on FOX, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC to run them in all 50 states through Election Day so I imagine everyone will encounter them sometime.  Nothing but a last-ditch desperate futile attempt to sway voters.
Yes, they are running in North Texas - just saw it Sunday morning Nov.2. Why are they worried about Texas? If they are short on money, why spend here?
I think what they're worried about is their boy John Cornyn losing.  They're hoping this will prop him up.

The October surprise was Dick Cheney endorsing McCain!

Obama/Biden 2008

I saw a Rev. Wright ad in NY today. I think it will turn off the independents. Shows desperation. Has anyone asked McCain how he feels about these/if he will denounce them like he promised long ago? It might as well say "I'm John McCain and I approve this message." at the end. He really wimped out on the standards.

Or how 'bout "I'm John McCain and I'm running a scummy, strategically inept campaign." ?

*Ugh* I just saw the Rev. Wright ad here (New Orleans).

Good, that will lend added incentive for the largely Black population there to get out and vote.

I don't understand why McCain is so self-destructive.

I just saw it here from a Baton Rouge station.  I'm afraid it could sway some undecideds down here.  It plays to both the racism and patriotism fears that exist in the deep south.  It makes me sick!!  McCain is a desperate, nasty man!  This is the exact reason Obama opted out of public financing...McCain wouldn't agree to not use the PACs and 527s!
Don't sweat it guys. Just a final lame attempt to use "race" which McCain did not want to be tied with but guess what McCain? You are now officially tied to it! I think they'd have been better off ending with a positive ad or a patriotic message from McCain-showing his "old" self. I truly feel the negative stuff will backfire. It's a waste of money and may even help Obama.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing.  The poor strategy invoked by McCain's campaign is truly astounding.  Of course the man himself must be credited for the strategic trainwreck too.

Saw it in MS the other day.  Why waste money on ads for folks who already support you?  Morons!

Yup.  And it just seems like inherently wrong to use such negative tactics to try and win - well - anything.  This is a sad, sad reflection on the lacking values of McCain.

No, I live in South Texas.  I don't see the point since Texas is about as red as they get.  I think most people who are offended by Wright have already jumped ship.  This is old news.
This will satisfy those extreme right wingers who begged that Rev. Wright be used. We've all heard them calling Rush or appearing on Hannity. They got their wish but will see that nothing will come of it except a few extra votes for Obama and an African American population a little more angry with McCain. Nice try.
