Most damaging POTUS losers' soundbytes.

By aileron - Posted on 29 September 2008

Here are my votes for the sound bites that most damaged the recent POTUS losers' campaigns.

1992 -  George Bush - "Read my lips:  No new taxes."

1996 - Robert Dole - "I'm gonna eliminate the Department of Education."

2000 - Al Gore - "I took the initiative in creating the internet."

2004 - John Kerry - "I voted for it before I voted against it."

2008 - John McCain - "The fundamentals of the economy are strong."

It seems as if with the exception of Gore, in past POTUS elections once one of these bites starts to hang like an albatross around the neck of the candidate, it's over for him.  Even before but especially after today's event's this quote is his albatross.  I don't see how McCain is going to recover from this.

As despicably as he's run this campaign, I do hope he remains in the senate long enough to restore his reputation somewhat before he retires.  It's a pity to watch this great man come to this.
