Yes, we need to continue to reinforce the OBAMA facts!

And the Media needs to do their job and provide the facts to the American public about gov. Pallin - the entire Truth - not 1/2 truths in her favor.

I personally believe also that all facts about all candidates should be known, and before any are reported need to be proven true. Show their good and bad which everyone has some of.

Exactly. If there's one thing I hate this year it's when voters can't concede the weaknesses of their chosen candidates. I mean, none of them is perfect so we might as well admit it.

People very easily tend to believe speculation, and its like once the story gets told and told again it grows alittle, alittle is added each time. In this one area I think we could all agree the media is too much of a factor. Should only be reporting this stuff after it is proven,  not reporting on gossip, just to be the first ones with it on the air.

That's what's become so out of hand this cycle. The media think they can get away with reporting smut just by hedging the story with, "It is reported that..." That's not responsible journalism. I was horrified at how many respected outlets were reporting the "Palin faked her pregnancy to cover for her daughter's pregnancy" story.

I think that a lot of that is the blurring of the lines between professional journalists and amateur journalists/bloggers, as well as the speed at which the news cycle moves. Rumors and speculation get reported even as they are being investigated because being scooped means a loss of credibility (and revenue).

Given that, it is far easier for individuals and groups with an agenda to whisper something and it will get reported upon, and it will still sometimes stick in the public's mind long after it has been clarified or debunked.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, & wiser people so full of doubts.
-- Bertrand Russel

That's right. There's a seamless continuum now between credible journalism, biased journalism, gray news media, the blogosphere, and organized smear campaigns.

A guy a couple of years ago predicted that this would be the year of the "user generated swiftboating." He was right, but I don't think anyone realized how complicit the actual media would be in the phenomenon.

Very good points.  But he can't do enough to please certain people.

Auto-McCain Reply:  He has no EXECUTIVE experience

He sure is no Palin.....lol
