The Debates

By Wolfman456 - Posted on 05 September 2008

Alright guys, the conventions are over and the next step in the campaign process is the presidental debates. I don't know exactly what's going to happen, but I'm placing my bets on the following:

 - Biden crushes Palin in the debates because he has more national experiance with the national political questions. He has spent many years and probably knows the issues threw and threw.

My real question is "How is the McCain - Obama debates going to turn out".

It's tough to say, but lightning struck McCain just before the convention so he's now the reformer. You see, I think he chose Palin so that he can hold her up for the base and claim he's still the maverick with the social conservative by his side to "keep him in check." He's making this about personality and not issues and that's what I think he'll do during the debates. We'll hear more POW stories, and how he served his country, etc, etc.

wolfman....how is the weather there?  Are you near the coast?  Sending thoughts and prayers to you and all in your area.

I'll have to wait to offer an opinion on your post, as I just got power and am trying to catch up with the political news.

It's been rainning all day, and the storm should hit with in the hour, but I'm cuddled up close with my girl and I have my flashlight by my bed, so I think I'll be okay.

Wolf,

Do you think, if you got out on the roof,  sited Hanna's center, and put a couple of rounds in her, could you could drop her in the drink?

 Just curious.

Also, if shes moving north at 17 Knots, with sustained winds at 60 knots, where would you site the rifle?

I think Biden will indeed crush Palin but the narrative may be "Palin holds her own" or "Palin survives the pressure" since the bar is so low for her. I wish the media wasn't so afraid of her now and would just speak the truth. They'll probably give her the questions ahead of time "just to make it fair." I hope they throw out some challenging questions that all her studying won't save her from. People need to know this woman could be our president. Obama should do well and, as long as the moderators don't pull an ABC news stunt, he won't need to be defensive. If he could survive debates with Hillary, I think he will do well against McCain. His intelligence over McCain and knowledge of important issues will be obvious but he will need be careful not to give an elite impression but find a way to speak more to the "common person" which McCain is pretty good at.

McCain might have a poblem if

1. He brings up the Pakistan/Iraq boarder

2. He gets Sunni and Shitte mixed up

3. He forgets how many houses he owns

Exactly.  Obviously, the Republicans are going to set her expectations so low.  Fact is, Biden could absolutely humiliate her, but that's not necessarily the way he can win.  He needs to show that he and Obama are just smarter/more competent than McCain/Palin, as he subtly runs circles around her.

"I wish the media wasn't so afraid of her now and would just speak the truth. They'll probably give her the questions ahead of time "just to make it fair.""

I don't think the media is afraid of her, Izzy, I think THEY CAN'T GET TO HER!  She been hold up in the Straight Talk Bus for Days now... McCain and Co aren't letting her out of their sights!

Personally, I think she really ticked off the media with her sassy comment in her speech and her low profile.  Let us remember she's a censorian, willing to walk all over our 1st Amendment Rights.  I think the media is JUST WAITING for the opportunity to put her to the test.

And personally, I can't wait to see it.  She doesn't derserve special treatment - she's in the Big Leagues now.

They basically just took a lil' goldfish and through it in to the ocean. She won't stand a chance. She'll look stupid and then the whole craze over Palin will just be null and void.
They certainly glorified her speech. I heard Chris Matthews declared "That's our next president" and has been ga ga ever since. No more "chill up my leg" for Obama-he has been replaced. I hope you are right and they are trying to kiss up to get their chance at her. Personally, I'd savor the moment! Does Palin/McCain think they'll just forget about her if she hides? Aren't they trying to showcase her stardom? What exactly is their strategy? The concept they focused on for so long "He's just a superstar. He makes a good speech. So what?" is now the center of their campaign. How very ironic!

A friend of mine has added this signature to all of her emails:

"Why is Sarah Palin hidin'?

'Cause she's afraid of Joe Biden!"

;)

Hah!

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, & wiser people so full of doubts.
