More fun with Romney

By Barbara Gordon - Posted on 17 May 2007

If you missed the latest debate last night, you can watch the clips at FoxNews.

I've gotta give Romney credit: he sure came up with a way to separate himself from the crowd. Get this. When asked a question about an attack on American soil, his response included a plan to double the Guantanamo Bay detainee facility:

ROMNEY: I am glad [detainees] are at Guantanamo. I don’t want them on our soil. I want them on Guantanamo, where they don’t get the access to lawyers they get when they’re on our soil. I don’t want them in our prisons, I want them there. Some people have said we ought to close Guantanamo. My view is we ought to double Guantanamo.

What the hell? Is this the kind of message we want to send abroad? That the leader of the free world wants to expand the facilities known to foster neglect, abuse, and outright torture??

Do you have proof of the torture?  Or are you just saying that, what about the abuse?  Do you have proof of that?  I'm waiting....

You're waiting?

Here's a good place to start. It describes how the military is using specialized psychologists to determine how to make abuse most effective. It includes actual cases. But it's eleven pages long and uses some big words, so I guess it might be awhile before I hear back from you.

I have to agree with Sharpton when it comes to Romney - I don't think the guy stands a sounds like he's just trying to create news about himself any way he can.
