Romney: "I stand by what I said, whatever it was"

By Misty - Posted on 18 May 2012

Comment: In Massachusetts Obama has 55% while Romney has 34%. If we keep this up this will be the first time since 1916 that a candidate didn't win their home state. Obama 2012!!

Gore lost Tenn. in 2000 to W,

  http://www.nytimes.com/2000/11/09/us/the-2000-elections-tennessee-loss-in-home-state-leaves-gore-depending-on-florida.html

I was so proud of my home state of Tennessee for helping not inflict a Gore presidency on the country.

Yeah, that cakewalk in Iraq and economy crash in late '08 were Fab!  Ya got me thinking back on those 100 American deaths in Iraq per week news reports and the 20% drop in my retirement fund. GOOD TIMES.

I have no idea what kind of president Al Gore would have made, but I do know one thing: he could not have been any worse than W.

While I'm no big fan of Bush and I was not in favor of the Iraq War, I think history will be kinder to him especially in relation to his handling of 9/11. Al Gore would have been a disaster as president so I don't regret at all voting for Bush in 2000 although John Kerry would have been a better vote in 2004.

"I think history will be kinder to him especially in relation to his handling of 9/11. Al Gore would have been a disaster as president"

I don't know. History ain't THAT stupid.

Budget Surplus at end of Clinton/Gore second term

Budget Surplus at end of George W. Bush/Cheney second term...

...That's one of those lame stream media gotcha questions that real Americans and the troops that have fought and died for our freedom are tired of hearing about. We need to get back to the issues that  the American people care about, not constant nitpicking from socialist Muslim American-hating  baby-killilng, pro-voter fraud lefties who always want to tear down America not build it up and that's why come November we will take our country back, we will stop apologizing to every whining dictator who gets his nose out of joint every time there is some so-called "news report" of civilian casualties in his country. We will elect an American president who takes family  vacations in American cities, like Montreal, and we have to stop sending foreign aid to our dictator allies who are not committed to freedom, and that means pulling the plug on Obamacare over there so we don't have to fight them over here.  (Sorry... FoxNation has taken control of my keyboard and won't give it back.)

Romney has no substance to himself when it comes to “Quality of Life” for the American people. He talks in very general vague terms.  On the surface, his message sounds legitimate but there are no substantive plans that would benefit the average American.  I am totally surprised as to how average Americans are willing to lose their livelihood all in the name of “defeating President Obama”. There are lots of people who are aware of the consequences of electing a Republican President and both branches of Government; however, they have been deeply programed to the ideology of “Smaller Government” until they are willing to buy into “EVERYTHING” that has to do with “Smaller Government”, which includes the elimination of the educational system, revamping the Social Security System, modifying or eliminating Medicare, and eliminating Medicaid. However, they want Government to dictate to them how to live their lives ( stereotyping gays, and dictating to women how to manage their reproductive lives).  So once again, the 1% has managed to persuade the poor average Americans that they are not patriotic or hard working if they depend on the “Government”.

The government is taking tax dollars out of peoples’ paycheck every pay period or whenever but they have managed to convince Americans that it is okay for the Government to raise your tax dollars, send your kids to an endless war and abolish the educational system, but hey at least you are a “Good American” lol ---- Oh by the way, even thou I raise your tax dollars ( The Government), don’t rely on me for anything, not even in a recession or depression when the free market gamble away the American dollars lol  “You are on your own” you see the 1% are job creators so when we squander away your money thru risky bets, you either can bail us out or we have BILLIONS of dollars in overseas account and we will continue to outsource the job and you faithful Americans can rely one each other for charity or die as a “Good ole American” lol --- Now doesn’t that sound wonderful??  You hard working, independent patriotic Americans are too proud to rely on the government for anything even in the time of crisis!!  Lol---- Unbelievable how many people have bought into this doctrine!!

Also, if people are not supposed to look for government to do anything for them, then why are people looking for Obama to create jobs??? I thought corporate America were the job creators?? Why are the right wing, extreme conservatives and GOP blaming President Obama for the economy when they don’t believe Government can create jobs and are not responsible for people’s personal lives?!!--- Isn’t this a dichotomy theory?? I am confused?? How is it that Romney expressed that he will cut all social programs and slim the budget by Trillions of dollars but not acknowledge how these cuts will impact the average American; however, somehow thru all these cuts, jobs will manifest in abundance and Americans will be overflowing in jobs!! Lol--- Do not these people realize that when Romney and Ryan cut the massive budget that it will hit the middle class pockets really hard?? Why are people bemoaning President Obama about the economy, when these massive cuts will take away their jobs, possibly affect benefits, their taxes will go up along with the cost of living (housing, food and etc). By Golly you will be a Patriotic American when the Government stop being involved in your lives and you can live and die as you please while the job creators, eat good like fat rats, gamble away your tax dollars, and outsource the jobs lol hahaha

President Obama needs to hit Romney on what he is trying to show as his strengths. Romney stands very smug in front of a deficit ticker to act like he is all about cutting our deficit while proposing plans that could do the opposite. A Romney budget would greatly increase the deficit, probably far more that where President Obama could take us (and at least Obama wants to spend money on important things like infrastructure and education, not tax cuts for billionaires and military spending.) Is Romney completely insane? He actually wants to cut taxes further for the rich? Hmm-haven't we tried that recently? Didn't work so well but those "job creators" who created no jobs (in fact fired more people than ever thanks to the Bush gifts) They sure enjoyed that extra European vacation and 2nd yaght (or car elevator) with those extra perks! Why can't someone just ask Romney-who benefitted from the cuts-how many people he personally employed this year thanks to his tax breaks. Simple question. Romney is leaving out the important details of where his "cuts" would come from but even the CBO knows it would be devastating to everyone but the rich. Under Democratic presidents, inlcuding Obama, there is evidence that more jobs are created, the stock market grows more and deficits are actually more under control than under Republicans. He needs to sell these facts and run against the Romney ideas as a repeat of Bush, actually potentially worse. Yes, spending on social programs can be criticized and certainly cuts can be discussed. But why aren't massive tax cuts for those who don't need them considered "wasteful spending" but things like Head Start are fine to cut? I don't get it.

"Under Democratic presidents, inlcuding Obama, there is evidence that more jobs are created, the stock market grows more and deficits are actually more under control than under Republicans." If that is true Kelly than why are you a Republican For Obama and not a Democrat For Obama?

My psychology teacher said that, "You are here because this the place you most want to be; if you wanted to be someplace else more, you would be there."  We are the lucky ones to witness her intelligence and insight. Republican, Independent, Democrat or whatever party she is from carry no weight over her intelligence. Get off her back, Jack.

Misty, please don't take my question to Kelly the wrong way. I'm not on her "back."

Thanks Brandon.. For a miniute there I thought of taking this outside.

Trust me, Brandon. My frustration with the Republican party grows stronger everyday. I also question the wisdom of supporting a party that is more dedicated to Grover Norquist than growing this country and our middle class, in particular. I am very uncomfortable with a party that continues to create policy that is offensive to me as a woman (seriously-vaginal probes, Gov. McDonald? Romney not even willing to say he'd support the Lily Ledbetter Act. Republicans refusing to quickly renew the Violence Against Women Act, etc.) I am also disgusted with GOP efforts across the country to supress voting rights. I thought we wanted people to have easier access to voting, not obstacles. I have also made it clear for many years I am a moderate Republican and very progressive on social issues like gay rights. People like me used to be accepted under a "big tent" but certainly not feeling welcome now. And even if I did feel welcome, Republicans are blocking efforts to move such social issues forward. Thankfully, several Republicans in NYS helped to pass a law allowing gay marriage. And if it weren't for a few brave Republicans, Pres. Obama would not have repealed Don't Ask, Don't Tell. So I do have my moments of hope. I'm not an idiot and I see this "marriage" in big trouble. I consider everyday switching to Independent or Democrat and wonder why I am still hanging on. In terms of my faith, I find the Democratic policies much closer to WWJD. Cutting services to the poor but seeking more tax cuts for the rich? Really? So you'll be happy to know the Republican party will be minus one more woman soon unless I see some major shift/changes. I think the better question is: why are you still so dedicated to a party that pretends to care about deficits but historically shows such a lack of success and discipline (Bush passes Medicare part D-not paid for! The Wars exploded the debt. The Bush tax cuts still kill us in terms of deficit standing and they want to EXPAND those!)
