More Scalps for Glenn Beck's Belt?
Glenn Beck is feeling his Cheerios it seems. His "success" in forcing the resignation of Van Jones has emboldened him to go "czar" hunting. Here are his next victims, if I am reading things right. This tweet from Beck on Sept 4 (He has over 121,000 followers):
Watch Dogs: FIND EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON CASS SUNSTEIN, MARK LLOYD AND CAROL BROWNER. Do not link before burning to disc.
Blakey has already been kind enough to bring Lloyd , "Chief Diversity Officer", to our attention. It seems that the right opposes him based on fears of the reinstatement of The Fairness Doctrine. Here, (in a piece written by Lloyd in 2007) Lloyd says "Forget the Fairness Doctrine".
Carol Browner, who served as EPA Administrator throughout both Clinton terms, has been nominated to the position of "Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change". Her Wiki page, and EPA biography tells me she is a very solid and mainstream pick for the job. But we know that anything that concerns protecting the environment is right up there with climate change to the far right, and smacks of "false science" to them. So, back to the "S" word for the far right. As summed up in this American Spectator article, Ms. Browner has "socialist ties".
It's going to be even more difficult to bring down Cass Sunstein, who has been appointed director of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. ( I think his confirmation is scheduled for today). The "regulation czar" has the support of such business-friendly entities as Forbes, which praises his new approach to regulation. It's hard to find negatives about Mr. Sunstein, but the far right wackos have sniffed them out. Mr. Sunstein has expressed his opposition to hunting if the only purpose is fun and sport. To the radical right, this personal opinion translates into a threat to their Second Amendment rights! There is even a StopSunstein website that states :
President Barack Obama has nominated Cass Sunstein, a radical anti-hunting, anti-gun, animal rights law professor to be his "regulatory czar".
Glenn Beck is a loon, with an agenda known only to him and the voices in his head. A big part of me wants to see him taken off of television, which may well happen due to more and more sponsors abandoning his program. But there is another little part of me that wants people such as Beck out there, front and center, instead of spreading their hate, lies and destruction of our American way underground. If we can see, hear and know what it being said, we can fight back.
There is a Twitter user who is dedicated to stopping Beck's "vitriol, misinformation, race bating, & incitement of violence." For anyone here who uses Twitter, I suggest you follow stopbeck.

There's more on Cass. Let's
There's more on Cass. Let's add John's post from the 'Van Jones resigns' thread:
The hard right attacks everyone and everything associated with Obama (and the Dems generally). It rarely sticks or makes an impact. In this case, though, Jones spent a lot of his career making himself such an easy target-- so the allegations rang true.
For instance, the latest person they're going after is Cass Sunstein-- a very moderate law professor at U Chicago and a perennial Supreme Court candidate:
http://washingtonindependent.com/57912/glenn-becks-next-target-cass-sunstein
They've completely distorted one idea he had in Sunstein's libertarian-inspired book Nudge that came out a couple of years ago. Sunstein noted that there is a large percentage of the population who'd be willing to donate their organs upon death, but just don't think to actually sign up for the organ donor list when they signed up for the driver's licenses.
He makes the point that if people were asked to opt-out of the organ donor program instead of opt-ing in (both involving simple check marks) we could save thousands of lives; people would still have just as much of a choice in the matter, but by framing those choices differently we could be helping each other more effectively.
If I had to guess, I'd say Sunstein survives, because what they're now saying about him is 98% b.s., instead of around 68% b.s. with Van Jones.
I actually think the donor
I actually think the donor opt-out is a good idea, but the Insurance industry will be against it...more donors = more transplants= lower profits. ;-)
I think Sunstein's hearing has already taken place, and I thought the vote was today. That won't stop Beck from making a big deal out of him though.
I take it you mean: More
... And now I just treated human organs as a commodity. Excuse me while I scrub my brain and conscience with detergent.

Van Jones is a wimp, and he has no spine. I'm glad he's gone. Obama needs a backbone in his cabinet members. What Van Jones doesn't understand is that by resigning, not only did he legitimize the history revisionist movement, now instead of defending one cabinet member they're going to have to defend three, and find a replacement for him.
Van Jones reminds me of a Republican, stepping down at the very first sign of public dissent. The Democrats are usually the ones holding on till the end, and sometimes well beyond that.
I hear you, Meph, but in
Then the administration has
Van Jones reminds me of a
I'm not sure that party affiliation is really correlated to that-- see Gov. Sanford for a Republican who's holding out despite a scandal that easily dwarfs Jones'. That might be an exception rather than a rule, though.

I thought they were talking about Van Johnson (1940's movie star ... lol ) but I was just about spitting nickels on Sunday when Beck's Fox buddies also claimed credit for the retirement of newsman Charles Gibson too - supposedly forced to resign because he was so "mean" to Palin - I was just furious - they will take credit for all kinds of crap now.

Exactly. I don't trust all of ACORN's actions either but it's the fact that he has to keep playing to the conspiracy to keep his listeners happy (or in justified hysteria) and coming back for more...

Now the census bureau has cut ties with ACORN.
And with the intentions to right something will only make people think they were on to something in the first place because Obama obviously has total dictatorial control over the Census Bureau and is trying to cover his tracks. Of course it is fishy and not something that can and should be swept under the rug, but people already have enough for their conspiracies and they just got a whole new batch of 'proof'...
