More Scalps for Glenn Beck's Belt?

Glenn Beck is feeling his Cheerios it seems.  His "success" in forcing the resignation of Van Jones has emboldened him to go "czar" hunting.  Here are his next victims, if I am reading things right.  This tweet from Beck on Sept 4 (He has over 121,000 followers):

Watch Dogs: FIND EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON CASS SUNSTEIN, MARK LLOYD AND CAROL BROWNER.  Do not link before burning to disc.

Blakey has already been kind enough to bring Lloyd , "Chief Diversity Officer", to our attention.  It seems that the right opposes him based on fears of the reinstatement of The Fairness Doctrine.  Here, (in a piece written by Lloyd in 2007) Lloyd says "Forget the Fairness Doctrine".

Carol Browner, who served as EPA Administrator throughout both Clinton terms, has been nominated to the position of "Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change".  Her Wiki page, and EPA biography tells me she is a very solid and mainstream pick for the job.  But we know that anything that concerns protecting the environment is right up there with climate change to the far right, and smacks of "false science" to them.  So, back to the "S" word for the far right.  As summed up in this American Spectator article, Ms. Browner has "socialist ties".

It's going to be even more difficult to bring down Cass Sunstein, who has been appointed director of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. ( I think his confirmation is scheduled for today).  The "regulation czar" has the support of such business-friendly entities as Forbes, which praises his new approach to regulation.  It's hard to find negatives about Mr. Sunstein, but the far right wackos have sniffed them out.  Mr. Sunstein has expressed his opposition to hunting if the only purpose is fun and sport.  To the radical right, this personal opinion translates into a threat to their Second Amendment rights! There is even a StopSunstein website that states :

President Barack Obama has nominated Cass Sunstein, a radical anti-hunting, anti-gun, animal rights law professor to be his "regulatory czar".

Glenn Beck is a loon, with an agenda known only to him and the voices in his head.  A big part of me wants to see him taken off of television, which may well happen due to more and more sponsors abandoning his program.  But there is another little part of me that wants people such as Beck out there, front and center, instead of spreading their hate, lies and destruction of our American way underground.  If we can see, hear and know what it being said, we can fight back.

There is a Twitter user who is dedicated to stopping Beck's "vitriol, misinformation, race bating, & incitement of violence."  For anyone here who uses Twitter, I suggest you follow stopbeck.

There's more on Cass. Let's

There's more on Cass. Let's add John's post from the 'Van Jones resigns' thread:

The hard right attacks everyone and everything associated with Obama (and the Dems generally).  It rarely sticks or makes an impact.  In this case, though, Jones spent a lot of his career making himself such an easy target-- so the allegations rang true.

For instance, the latest person they're going after is Cass Sunstein-- a very moderate law professor at U Chicago and a perennial Supreme Court candidate:

http://washingtonindependent.com/57912/glenn-becks-next-target-cass-sunstein

They've completely distorted one idea he had in Sunstein's libertarian-inspired book Nudge that came out a couple of years ago.  Sunstein noted that there is a large percentage of the population who'd be willing to donate their organs upon death, but just don't think to actually sign up for the organ donor list when they signed up for the driver's licenses.

He makes the point that if people were asked to opt-out of the organ donor program instead of opt-ing in (both involving simple check marks) we could save thousands of lives; people would still have just as much of a choice in the matter, but by framing those choices differently we could be helping each other more effectively.

If I had to guess, I'd say Sunstein survives, because what they're now saying about him is 98% b.s., instead of around 68% b.s. with Van Jones.

I actually think the donor

I actually think the donor opt-out is a good idea, but the Insurance industry will be against it...more donors = more transplants= lower profits. ;-)

I think Sunstein's hearing has already taken place, and I thought the vote was today.  That won't stop Beck from making a big deal out of him though.

I take it you mean: More

I take it you mean: More donors means more supply, which usually means lower prices.

... And now I just treated human organs as a commodity. Excuse me while I scrub my brain and conscience with detergent.

It's sad that we've reached a point where 'government service' is a dirty word... If we're the greatest country on earth, maybe we can have the greatest government.

Ewwwwwww!!!

Ewwwwwww!!!

Van Jones is a wimp, and he

Van Jones is a wimp, and he has no spine. I'm glad he's gone. Obama needs a backbone in his cabinet members. What Van Jones doesn't understand is that by resigning, not only did he legitimize the history revisionist movement, now instead of defending one cabinet member they're going to have to defend three, and find a replacement for him.

Van Jones reminds me of a Republican, stepping down at the very first sign of public dissent. The Democrats are usually the ones holding on till the end, and sometimes well beyond that.

I hear you, Meph, but in

I hear you, Meph, but in this case, I don't think he was in control of his own future on this one. I think this was a resignation "offer he couldn't refuse."

Then the administration has

Then the administration has no one to blame but themselves for the mess they've created here. For Obama's sake I hope that's not true. As I said, Van Jones move is very Republican-like, seems very uncharacteristic of a Democrat.

Van Jones reminds me of a

Van Jones reminds me of a Republican, stepping down at the very first sign of public dissent. The Democrats are usually the ones holding on till the end, and sometimes well beyond that.

I'm not sure that party affiliation is really correlated to that-- see Gov. Sanford for a Republican who's holding out despite a scandal that easily dwarfs Jones'. That might be an exception rather than a rule, though.

There are about three or

There are about three or four Senators right now that make Van Jones look like the Pope, and I don't see them resigning. But Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay, etc, they all gave up way too soon.

Van Jones thought that

Van Jones thought that resigning would help the President. Van Jones is a great grass roots organizer an speaker. His abilities can be used best on this side of the fence, an not in the administration where is hands is tied. So, beck with out realizeing it, may have done the Demacrates a favor! This info. I'm shareing just in case some of you didn't realize how Big a part Van Jones took in the organization of the grass root movement to get Obama elected. His speech's are inspireing! He's a very smart an educated man, in his own right!

Meph, I used to jump to

Meph, I used to jump to these conclusions also, when a move by some one made no sense to me! I know look up what the person did, where they came frome, an were their strengths are, an ask myself why would they take that avenue? In this case, I would say my research started with arrieana, a personal close freind of Jones, an read her section! I than went back in the campagne articles, an searched for Van Jones name, an found out how active he was in the ground roots movement to get Obama elected. I enjoyed the search and the reading, an I really think Jones can help us out side this administration, more than inside. I also don't think it was with in his skin to feel confortable in the possition he was given in this administration. So, pat Beck on the back--He gave back to us a player who is back in the game where he always belonged! Of course don't tell Beck he helped this Black Prez. or he may go on a rampage again!

That's fine, but it's still

That's fine, but it's still bad timing if anything. The election stuff doesn't start for another year and a half or so. Make it look like you're sticking in there and then resign when everyone has forgotten about it. (Honestly I didn't even know that he was a former truther, because I don't watch Glenn Beck)

I don't watch Beck either,

I don't watch Beck either, but there is a lot of information out there for anyone who looks into issues.

I thought they were talking

I thought they were talking about Van Johnson (1940's movie star ... lol ) but I was just about spitting nickels on Sunday when Beck's Fox buddies also claimed credit for the retirement of newsman Charles Gibson too - supposedly forced to resign because he was so "mean" to Palin - I was just furious - they will take credit for all kinds of crap now.

Its the height of irony that

Its the height of irony that Beck goes after anybody.  Beck aired a fantasy Poison Pelosi Skit, and who complained about a media hack inciting assassination of the US Speaker of the House?  Beck said all liberal protesters should be tasered during Bush, but now Beck is calling the shouting, the threats, the comparisons of Obama to Hitler, wearing guns with threatening signs a right to free speech.  Can you imagine a liberal wearing a gun to a Bush townhall threatening to water the tree of liberty?  Not one FOX news neocon said one negative thing about the teabagger with the firearm with a sign saying he intends on shedding blood.  If Beck finds a birther-style loon and outs him, then more power to him, but Beck needs to go after the biggest liar, fomenter, traitor, of all, Glenn Beck.  I have particpated in a boycott against Beck, not because of his whining that Obama is a racist, but precisely because of his Pelosi assassination skit.  I know some neocons find that very funny, but with Beck's ranting and histrionic outbursts, his hypocrisy and unbridled anger, the skit was Becks way of putting a hit on Pelosi while hiding behind his role of "comedian".  Anyone who advertises during Beck deserves to go out of business if they continue to do so.  Its up to us patriots to shut down the seditious liar Glenn Beck, and do so by boycotting his sponsors.

I'm moving this post from

I'm moving this post from Frances to here, for the sake of continuity.

Cass Sundstein Confirmed - that's -1 for Beck

I laugh,,you say Glen Beck

I laugh,,you say Glen Beck has this agenda that agenda,,blah blah,,yeah to expose the people that Obama is surrounded with. Thing is he has been backing it up with video, and FACTS,,tell me what is wrong with that. I know why you think it is wrong cause you are in the Obama tank and you don't want any crap in the water. But believe me, its looking brown from up here....Keep swimming though.   I laugh Magus , a scandal that easily dwarfs Jones,,,LOLOLOLOL.  Dont drink to much of that water.  Oh by the way, I say this in a polite sincere manner and really do like all of ya.  (0_0)

Whatever. Enjoy your stay in

Whatever. Enjoy your stay in Senator McCarthy's 1950s office.

If you'll excuse the rest of us, we would like to move forward.

Jones is history.  Moving

Jones is history.  Moving forward, what FACTS are you talking about, specifically?  I admit I don't watch Beck, my stomach isn't that strong.

This all smacks of McCarthyism to me.  A lot of people believed him too.......

I was on Glenn for about 20

I was on Glenn for about 20 seconds. The topic:

ACORN

I did the same thing

I did the same thing Steven....lol  Although I certainly don't believe ACORN is above reproach,  we know Beck is going to take the shadiest side of the organization and attempt to tie it to President Obama.  *mumble grumble*

Exactly. I don't trust all

Exactly. I don't trust all of ACORN's actions either but it's the fact that he has to keep playing to the conspiracy to keep his listeners happy (or in justified hysteria) and coming back for more...

I might have said some not so nice words before I changed the channel. lol Use your imagination...

I don't have to use my

I don't have to use my imagination.....ditto!  ;-D

Here's the story Glenn and

Here's the story Glenn and neocons are basking in the glory of because it has to relate to Obama. I know Obama has to be behind this!

Now the census bureau has

Now the census bureau has cut ties with ACORN.

And with the intentions to right something will only make people think they were on to something in the first place because Obama obviously has total dictatorial control over the Census Bureau and is trying to cover his tracks. Of course it is fishy and not something that can and should be swept under the rug, but people already have enough for their conspiracies and they just got a whole new batch of 'proof'...

Couple of comments, the

Couple of comments, the acorn thing is a big deal. For the record if they are trying to tie this to the president is ridiculous. The reason it is a big deal is we are giving our money to this group. They were caught on tape trying to tell people how to get around paying taxes, how to start a prostitution ring, etc. there is no way that the American people should be paying for this.  Van jones is a racist, it is crazy that because someone calls the president a liar he is a racist, but van makes the comment that you never see a columbine done buy a black kid never, well he is a great motivator and a person. This is the same guy that signed a petition that the bush administration new about 9/11 before it happened. That is just as ridiculous as saying the president wasn't born in the US and is much worse not only is he saying that the president at that time bush is a liar he also is responsible for killing thousands of American civilians. This is hardly the type of person that should represent the government.

Yeah, I do agree that it's

Yeah, I do agree that it's going to be even more difficult to bring down Cass Sunstein, who has been appointed director of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
