Country Music at the White House -- Misty, where's the pics??

By TinSoldier - Posted on 21 July 2009

I just saw on FB that the White House held a Country Music concert with Charley Pride, Brad Paisley, Allison Krause, and others.

 And I missed it!!

Misty, do your magic, please, and find some pics and video!

(Yes, I'll look on my own but you have a knack for finding the really good ones.)

Alison Krause has the voice of an angel.

  I second that!

And I love Brad Paisley. (dont tell my black relatives I listen to country, they will take away my membership)

like more bluegrass and classic country like Johnny Cash, Willie, Waylon, George Strait, and Randy Travis

Me too actually. I love the man in black, and Willie. Randy Travis' album "always and forever" is the album that turned me into a country music fan. If you like bluegrass, mixed with inspiration from Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley, you will love the Zac Brown Band. (the chicken fried guy).

I am a big Willie Nelson kids always laughed at me when I said this, but "Willie's got soul". ;-)  My all time favorite of his is a duet with Ray Charles "Seven Spanish Angels", followed closely by "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain".

Those are actually GOOD country artists!  (I'm very picky about country music!)

The Obama's hosted a celebration of country music in the East Room of the White house this evening, including performances from Charley Pride, Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss and Union Station.

Oh, what a fun night!  Is this going to be on PBS like the Stevie Wonder tribute  was.  I would totally watch it if it was.

It only would have been better had they been able to get Dolly Parton to perform some of her standards from the 70's and 80's.

Thanks, Misty. You rock! I knew that I could count on you.

I love this "music appreciation" idea/series. Nice touch, Michelle! I'm not a country music fan, but they certainly were graced with some of the best!

The White House will feature Classical music this fall.
Ooh -- I'm finally able to watch this! GAC is showing it now and the President just did his introduction speech.
