The Circus of Texas Politics

So the Texas Governor's race has begun. The bullet points for those not following:
- Our current Gov, Rick Perry, made us un-proud at a Tea Bag Party where he didn't disagree with someone who shouted out that Texas should secede. He continued with the momentum and dug himself into a nasty hole of secession talk.
- In the next governor election, he will be contested by current Senator Kay Bailey Huthchison, a moderate Republican who I will vote for, as well as have yard-signs to support.
- Texas politics -- esp. this race -- will no doubt lead to hours of entertainment. Here's Round 1: Hutchison supporters want an apology from Perry's strategist's regarding comments about moderates in the party.
An excerpt from the Dallas Morning News which sums it all up --
"Carney said the Republican Party should welcome new voters. But, he added, "that doesn't mean you take your principles and throw them out the door and become a whorehouse and let anybody in who wants to come in, regardless."
With American Idol coming to a close tonight, the vacuum could be filled by watching Texas politcs run its course.

If the Republican party is a
When you kick out the legit
If they continue to lose elections, it will be harder and harder for them to keep up the appearance that the problem isn't systemic, and that the primary cause wasn't self-inflicted.
----It's sad that we've reached a point where 'government service' is a dirty word... If we're the greatest country on earth, maybe we can have the greatest government.

And on that note, a shout
And on that note, a shout out to Marvin Zindler who died two years ago. "Sliiiime in the Ice Machine!"
(You probably have to be from around Houston to get this.)
I loved Marvin... this town
I loved Marvin... this town will never be the same.
I love the "whorehouse"
I love the "whorehouse" thing....
If we could create a pie chart for Southern Whorehouse Patrons over the past 150 years, the biggest slices would undoubtedly go to Southern GOP Officials, Southern Law Enforcement Officers, and Southern Ministers...in that order.
Hey, Observer! Where have
Momma, 6 months of

6 months of blogging for Obama put Daddy a little behind in his business. I have been in overdrive as a green builder and new daddy. I have developed a website for me biz as well.
Oh, and involved in a rebellion/coup at my food co-op.
A lot going on...
I've been Observing, and am still waiting for a little break in the clouds to start up an Obama site.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Its such a beautiful place.
Right now, I have to go
Right now, I have to go into a debate with a guy I know who is into far right conspiracy theory. He believes in chem trails, believes 100% that 9/11 was in inside job, believes that Rahm Emanuel is a double agent, that Obama is a puppet for a New World Order that is going to be controlled by the worlds banker-barons, etc etc.
These kinds of cats are unreal.
As a far right individual,
As a far right individual, I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I do not wear a tinfoil hat, and think the Guy O2 is gonna debate is a loon.
That being said, will you have transcripts of this debate available? I would love to hear what this one has to say about a new world order.
Brother, you wont believe
Brother, you wont believe the stuff this cat says. The current debate has been sparked by the "documentary": The Obama Deception.
Produced by Alex Jones who produced the 2nd edition of the "documentary" Loose Change. I find Jones to be semi-retarded.
If you get a chance to watch either of them, do. If at least for the entertainment value.
I'll keep you up to date. This guy has a great heart, but hes a piece of work.

The Democrats
The Democrats are throwing their power around a little bit in Texas - good for them. For someone to come to a polling place with a voter ID card, but be forced to file only a provisional ballot is ridiculous.
I'm looking at the bright
Ack! Thanks a lot!
LOL...I take my consolation
Hey, California is on top
Hey, California is on top of the list for everything that can go really really bad.
You guys are lucky.
You're right Misty. Things
They hiked up the sales
They hiked up the sales tax, income tax and doubled the vehicle license fee which is really going to hurt a lot of people. I wished they would have left the license fee alone.
Arnold was looking for Obama to bail us out. Seriously
Is Arnold making cuts?
California is a very
California is a very interesting case, because it has fallen so fast over the last 25 years from being at the top in just about everything good when it comes to quality of life.
States like Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama have always performed poorly in areas like education and healthcare. But what happened to California?
Was it really Proposition 13 back in 1978?
There is/was a mind set
There is/was a mind set that we could afford whatever was on the ballot. We voting every feel good measure in, but never under a pay as you go plan. Practically every little thing was covered by the sale of bonds. Big surprise we started to hurt when the economy started to fall.
When listening to them talk
Wasn't that a limit on
The first thing
The first thing Schwarzenegger wants to cut is education. And he wants the other states to take some of our prisoners.
There are too many public employees doing too little work in this state. Cut Cut Cut the fat!

Sen. Jeff Denham, R-Merced, pointed to the University of California's administration as ripe for spending cuts.
"Does the UC president's office need 1,000 employees or can he do it with 500?" Denham asked. "Do we need to have presidents and chancellors that are making $400,000 plus per year?"

All we got is Mitch "No Chin" McConnell. . . oh, and Bunning.
The Circus of Texas
The Circus of Texas Politics . . . . .
J.W. Lown, the mayor of San Angelo in West Texas, recently narrated a video touting his town as a great place to live. Then he left to pursue another passion.
Mr. Lown resigned this week -- less than a month after winning a fourth two-year term in a landslide -- saying he was leaving to carry on a relationship with a Mexican man who had been living illegally in the U.S.
Mr. Lown, 32 years old, sent the city manager a text message just hours before he was due to be sworn into office Tuesday that said he wouldn't be at the ceremony. He'd moved to Mexico, leaving behind a short letter of resignation on his desk.
With his partner unable to legally remain in the U.S., the mayor said he realized around election day -- May 9 -- that he faced a choice: betray his duty to abide by the law by helping the man hide from immigration authorities; end the relationship, or join him in Mexico. He chose Mexico...Read more
