The Future's so Bright
Here are some personal reflections on what I believe we can expect when Barack Obama is elected:
- Most of the world will cheer this victory with us.
From a distance, they see McCain for what he is: a man with a dangerous
agenda of world domination. These countries see that Obama’s agenda is the best
path towards world peace. We will slowly restore respect in the world and earn
back our great reputation in the eyes of many countries.
-We will be so relieved to get rid of George W. Bush that the economy will
celebrate exuberantly. Money will start changing hands again.
People are weary of Bush’s constant belligerence, his capricious
behavior, his attacks on Constitutional freedoms, his plotting and scheming to
undermine other countries, and his reckless disregard for the lives and
livelihood of human beings. The end of his administration will be like a sunny
morning after a stormy night.
- Obama will make the most of his honeymoon period. His policies are reasonable
although not perfect, his temperament is reliable, not impulsive, and his
advisers are the best available in this great country.
-There will be no political in-fighting evident in an Obama/Biden administration as we would surely see in a McCain/Palin administration or have even seen in past administrations, such as the Clinton White House. World peace is one thing, but peace in politics? Maybe that part is a dream.
-Of course, there will be bumps in the road (although Joe Biden took hits for suggesting that Obama will be tested, we know this was based on history.) There are forces in the world that wish America and world capitalism ill. They will do their utmost to derail a recovery. But I believe Obama and his team will be able to meet this challenge and many others as his administration is molded.
-Our nation will be unified and diversity will be embraced. Yes, Rush Limbaugh will still have a job and Fox News will do it’s best to create controversy, but unity, goodness, and trust will prevail.
Keep embracing hope and faith in the voters out there and in this great nation we love. We are embarking on a historical day which our country and the world will look back upon with pride. Together, we can look forward to an amazing journey of change. The best is yet to come and the future is bright.

Beautiful blog, Kelly.
Beautiful blog, Kelly. And I pray you are right.
I wish I could say I have faith in voters. After what happened in 2004, and considering the sheer blindness of reasonably intelligent people in their support for McCain (HOW can anyone support McCain/Palin at this point???) and the relative tightness of the race...I wonder. I really do.
This race, between an intelligent, self-made, sincere, idealistic, steady young man and a bitter, cynical, power-hungry old man should not even be anywhere as close as it is. That is why I will not relax until Obama is elected, no matter what the polls say. I just do not have faith in the electorate to make the right decisions for this country, because too many rely on fear, emotion, tradition - the status quo.
I really don't think this
I'm praying you're right,
I'm praying you're right, wcolin!
After I vote on Saturday, I am going to head over to our local Obama campaign headquarters to volunteer for the first time, despite my packed schedule and a performance Saturday night. I will be manning the phones for 3 hours, reminding people to vote. This race is just too important, and my own passion for Obama's candidacy too great, for me to just sit on the sidelines any longer.
A little late to the party, but better late than never!
Yay, you! EVERY person

I realize that it is important to be prudent and discerning. It is important to question. It is important to wear the "wait and see" hat.
If this is any kind of a tendency, it certainly is a Republican tendency.
Within this is our greatest strength, but also within it is our greatest weakness.
Knowledge, truth, wisdom, taking the right course, and flat-out living don't always relate to the head! The heart and the gut are just as legitimate. I have "felt" myself through as many great decisions as I have "thought" myself through.
This is the only time in my life that I will be a part of something this important in the political realm. If I fail to feel the magic involved, the moment will be lost forever.
Maybe McCain pulls off a hailmary!
Maybe McCain steals the election!
But you know what? They are dead to the spirit of America. They will never have what we have.!
Can't you feel it?
Can't you feel it?
We have 5 days left.
My advice to everyone:
FEEL IT!
We're not going to lose if we feel it.
It doesnt mean that we are saying "we've already won" if we feel it.
This whole thing is amazing. Let it be.
We are all doing it, not just Barack. Its all of us!
Reality check:
We are filling up stadiums for christ sake! Thats not dangerous, THATS GREAT!!!!

What is it with me and

What a great post. I'm
What a great post. I'm guilty of sitting and biting my nails with all the 'what ifs' running around in my head. I guess I don't want to jinx it somehow.
We should take moments to bask in what we've accomplished in this election. Most of us are learning to disagree and start working for the common good.
We're starting to break down the walls of 'conservative' and 'liberal' and just see people.
We ARE filling stadiums! We're marching in huge numbers in 'red' states. We are part of a movement to take back America!
We are Americans and we really are making our country better for ourselves, our children and the world.
Go us! Go Obama!
Yes We Can!

This was such a great blog
This was such a great blog post. I will admit that I have been getting nervous as got closer, afraid to pinch myself. I needed to read this today.

There will be other changes
There will be other changes for good that I can't exactly quantify... just something in my gut.
For example, I believe that art imitates life; I see an Obama administration creating an environment that fosters higher creativity and expression. In other words, I'm hoping shows like Tila Tequila go away.
The problems we face will not be solved by the minds that created them.
I have been reading your
Welcome to RFO rachel, and
We had two rallies here in
We had two rallies here in State College in two days. Palin on Tue (with Hank Williams, Jr.) and Pres Bill Clinton yesterday. Palin drew 7,500 (but I'm not sure how many were just there for the free concert). Bill drew 1,500, but his visit had been announced on very short notice, so that wasn't a surprise.
The two rallies were very different. Palin was "fear, fear, fear." Bill was "Obama is the best guy for the job and this is why." Two totally different messages.
Y'know. My dad was a Korean War Vet. He once told me that he was taught to believe that the Chinese ate babies. It was a justification for shooting another human being.
Now we are being told that Obama will take our paychecks and "redistribute" them if he gets elected. And y'know what? That's about as true as the Chinese eating babies.
It's a fear tactic and, frankly, I'm tired of being told how scared I should be.
I'd rather hope. So here's to hoping, although I know I won't relax until the polls close on Nov 4.

One of the people I work
One of the people I work with is one of those that is like ultra scared that Obama might win and she "may have to move out of the country" LOL!
I told her well, this country has been around over 200+ yrs so I seriously doubt another Democrat is going to suddenly change things, even more so if you consider the Democratic party has been around longer than the GOP.
GOP evolved from Progressives among others. Hey, wouldn't that be nice if it WAS Progressive????

Funny....that's how I feel if McCain wins.
I just feel sad that anyone
I just feel sad that anyone feels that way, that our political discourse has coarsened to the point that anyone left or right would feel the need to leave the country if the candidate not supported by them didn't win.
Of course, we on the right have roundly -- and deservedly -- mocked those on the left for stating such things in the past. But I have to ask -- where would a right-wing person move if they felt so inclined? I mean, the left has lots of choices hahaha!

Of course, Tin, I would
Of course, Tin, I would never actually carry out my thought about leaving the country. After all, I'm 54 and settled in my ways.
But the possibility of a McCain/Palin administration seriously concerns me.

Nice blog, Kelly.
I don't agree with all of your points, but I do agree with most of them.
And while I think that this election will be a landslide for Obama, that is no excuse for someone not to vote! I think that complacency is the only thing that could lose this election.
